For nearly a century, the American Cancer Society has fought for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. By taking what has been learned through research and turning it into action, The American Cancer Society has contributed to a 15 percent decrease in the overall cancer death rate between the early 1990s and 2005. That means about 650,000 cancer deaths have been avoided and created the potential for more birthday celebrations. Overall, 11 million cancer survivors in America will celebrate a birthday this year.

Roberts Eyecare Associates is pleased to welcome Dr. Kara Pulsfus.Dr. Pulsfus graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She earned a Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry as class Valedictorian.Kara won the American Academy of Optometry’s Carl Zeiss Fellowship Award, Beta Sigma Kappa’s Silver Medal Award for Highest GPA and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists.
Kara and her husband have moved to Broome County from Aurora, Colorado.While in school, Kara participated in numerous externships studying contact lenses, low vision, pediatrics, binocular vision and vision therapy.She also participated in a research program investigating the effects of soft bifocal contact lenses.

The new Advanced Optomap P200C is designed to meet the need for more exacting clinical imaging capabilities delivering both ultra-widefield and ultra-high resolution images. The new system provides improved patient comfort while obtaining unsurpassed image quality.
The Optomap P200C is an excellent tool to evaluate the retina without dilation. It's wide-angle digital image allows seeing the complete retina all at once. The doctor can zoom in and move the image around to study any imperfections within the eye. This revolutionary technology scans the retina edge to edge. Taking only a quater of a second, an image can be captured helping reveal any retinal problems that might indicate diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma, tumors or retinal detachments.

Essilor of America has launched a new digital resource to explain the benefits and importance of No-Glare lenses. The site offers eight training videos that feature real-life situations to explain how both children and adults will benefit from No-Glare lens offerings.The videos cover a wide range of real-life situations: driving at night, children at school and other day to day activities.
Specifically, No-Glare lenses provide drivers with 20 percent sharper contrast so they can see objects more clearly which benefits in a five second faster recovery time after exposure to extreme glare such as headlights. For children, 80 percent of everything they learn in their first 12 years is through their eyes. No-Glare lenses decrease visual fatigue by eliminating glare caused by computers, whiteboards and classroom lighting so children stay focused on learning.
